Abstract

The writer chose to participate in this internship program to develop practical skills and general knowledge about working in a hotel. The program lasted for six months and took place at Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket. Centara is one of the five-star hotels in Thailand and is part of the Central Group. Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket is well-known for its Sino-Portuguese architectural style. During the internship, the writer was placed in the Thai kitchen for the first three months, spent one month in the breakfast section, and then returned to the Thai kitchen for the final two months. Through this experience, the writer gained a better understanding of the working environment in the hospitality industry, such as teamwork, communication, time management, and emotional control. In addition to gaining knowledge, the writer also faced various challenges, such as language barriers, physical demands, and encounters with difficult guests. These challenges were overcome by being patient, adaptable, and solution-oriented. This program has provided many valuable and beneficial experiences, serving as a strong foundation for the writer’s future career in the hospitality or culinary industry.
